Full torque available on pipes and nuts due to self-locking.
The Knipex Alligator is self-locking after application on pipes and nuts. This self-locking is possible due to the special geometry of the gripping jaw developed by Knipex. The user does not need to tighten the handles and can apply all his force to the torque. This is particularly useful when loosening seized screwed joints.
Compact design - large gripping capacity
Plumbers and heating engineers often work in tight spaces. In this case, the arched rack and the tapered head of the Knipex Alligator are an advantage. Despite the compactness of the pliers, the openings they can reach are surprisingly large thanks to the 11-position ratchet. Hoses up to 50 mm (2") and nuts up to 46 mm (1") - 30% more than a standard pliers.
Robust and wear-resistant - even outdoors
For professional use, the Knipex Alligator's double-guided interlocking joint provides a high degree of stability. The teeth of the gripping surfaces are induction hardened to approx. 61 HRC. This guarantees a particularly long tool life with a constant "bite" on the workpiece. The Knipex Alligator has a robust construction, is easy to clean and is therefore the ideal tool for outdoor work.
Benefits
Good access to the workpiece thanks to the tapered shape of the head/hinge area. More performance and comfort than with standard pliers of the same length: 9-position opening adjustment for 30% more gripping power. Self-locking on pipes and nuts: no slipping on the workpiece, less effort required to work. Specially hardened inner jaws with teeth, hardness approx. 61 HRC: secure clamping due to high wear resistance. Interlocking hinge: high stability due to double guide. Robust, dirt-resistant design; ideal for outdoor work. Protective lug to prevent pinching. Chrome vanadium electric steel, forged, oil-hardened in several stages.
